Very basic question about IRC

Pardon a very simple question, but I have never used IRC before. Can someone point me to an easy to understand tutorial on how to access it, use it, etc. Thanks! (I need to access Knoppix to solve two problems.)

First as for irc there are serveral articles that you can find on google, I know there is a fair one over on www.dalnet.com that will help you with the chatting problems.

Thanks - appreciate the info. Finally figured out how to add IRC to Mozilla - now trying to find out how to connect to "freenode.net" Did not see it listed.

Start the chat client, and then do

/server irc.freenode.net

Once you connect, you need to join the room

/join #knoppix

And that should be it.,
