    Put

    PS1='(\u)\w$'

    in your ~/.bashrc file.

    I know this is a stupid question :

    Where is the ~/.bashrc file? Is it a file you make in your home directory?

    /home/whatshisface/.bashrc

    I spent a long time looking for it and never found it lol
