Thread: Firewall PET

    Firewall PET

I think this upcoming request may be a little far stretched but I'll post it anyway...

Is there anyway that there can be a PET for making a platform independant firewall... I know that there is one up for a BSD(i believe) system but it looked like it used some BSD native things, aka commands :P, but not sure... I mean I think I'm gonna use a script anyway but some firewalling PETs would be cool... maybe an intro VERY basic PET then a Moderate Firewall PET and then maybe an Advanced Firewall PET. The difference between them could be the use of functions and variables and maybe even loops(if then loops), just a thought. Maybe all the LJr members could come together to make THE LJR FIREWALL available to the world ;D

    Re:Firewall PET

My linux firewalling skills are pretty bad. But to comment on the BSD stuff -- yeah, the OpenBSD file is for pf (packet filter). I sooooo hope they put pf on linux! pf kicks some serious ass!! But, unfortunately pf and ipchains/iptables have different commands and syntaxes.
