What can you tell me about linux spell checkers? AFAIK, there are two primary contenders: Aspell and Ispell.
As far as I can tell, ASpell is newer and more advanced, but more suited for spell checking English (which is fine for me). ASpell doesn't view URLs or acronyms as misspelled words. ISpell, however, is better at non-English languages, but doesn't do very well determining suggested spellings for words not found in its dictionary. ISpell will try and correct URLs and acronyms.
The problem I am having is ASpell seems to miss some words that ISpell finds, but ISpell won't give me any useful suggestions on spelling. So I use both. But that is very inconvenient and annoying.
Are there any other viable spell checkers for Linux? Or maybe there is a way I can improve ISpell or ASpell to fix the weakness I mentioned above. What is your experience with them? Thanks for your help.
