Finnish taxi drivers to pay royalties for backseat music

Finland's Supreme Court has ruled taxi drivers must pay royalty fees if they play music in their car while a customer is in the backseat.

Just read the article from an osdn email I receive. What a crock! What's next , paying a per use fee when you listen to your cd's on your computer? If this is what the world is coming to, I'm moving to Alaska!

    Cheers

I heard about this taxi thing in the news last night and almost jumped out of the sofa. WTF?! >

All the music people are getting weird. First they don't want people to play CD's with computers, and now this...

Let's see when all the book people go weird too. Then the libraries probably need to start paying fees, too, because they let people read copyrighted content.

Finland is still about as free as countries get I'm afraid. This is just a minor show of ignorance on recording industry' side.

Well I bet Canada is freer at least. Bless Canada... (There has to be some place without ignorant laws like this.)

If you buy a cdr disc in Canada a part of the money goes to their version of the RIAA. Since nov. 1 it's like that here in Sweden too. It's f***ing stupid.

Ok, are there any stupid laws in Australia? There has to be some country that I can move to someday.
