If sites want me to pay for content, then they should require that I sign up with them to do so. Otherwise, the pop-up ads are infringing on my right to not be disturbed by unwanted solicitations. If I'm a criminal because of that view, then string my butt up, sheriff.
You have no right to unwanted solicitations if you live in the US. http://www.junkbusters.com/ht/en/nr2.html
They're thieves! They are stealing my bandwidth. :P

Good point.
I think that they are the criminals, subjecting me to advertising against my own will, in my own home!
But by their standards, I'm the criminal :-\
Their system seems easily defeatable. Couldn't one just pipe the unwanted content to it's interpreter (say java) and then push all the content to /dev/null? The site would be under the impression that popups are working fine.
Sure, but you'd still be wasting the bandwidth, no?
You walk into a shop. Without warning you, someone in that shop tries to throw a load of ads to your face. You don't let the bastard throw those ads at you. Then you're not allowed to go into the shop because you're stealing the money they get from throwing ads at their customers' face.
Why do people on the net do things they'd NEVER do in real life?
