    Delete Links

    How does one delete links? I tried the [tt]rm link_name[/tt], but that wanted to delete the link and what it linked two.

    It did? How did you link it in the first place? I always just delete the links and never was the link target deleted.

    yea... im with demian, this never happens to me. any chance rm is aliased to soemthing?

    [tt]rm[/tt] is aliased to [tt]rm -something[/tt]. I forget what [tt]something[/tt] is. It makes [tt]rm[/tt] ask before deleting anything (the opposite of [tt]rm -f[/tt].

    that'd be rm -i

    great tip:
    touch /-i and then should you be in / and accidently do a rm -rf * it will stop you!

    but yeah rm even rm -i should not delete what the link links to, just the link

    Hehe. Somebody read the Unix Power Tools book. At least that's where I got this from. The only problem I had was to figure out how to get rid of the -i file...

    rm -- -i

    yeah i don't remember when i first heard the -i thing. i think it was at like linux.com or something. one of those sites that has a bunch of user submited tips
