i don't know how PETable it is but still very cool, i have run xeart, but not lately becuase i could not figure this out

Hey there. I found some really cool scripts that make xplanet do things I never knew it was capable of. The install instruction were not the best though, so I re-wrote them hoping they are easier to understand.
Check it out here
I never submitted a PET. So if you need a different format just let me know.

See... that's how newbie I am at submitting PETs. I never even noticed the submit button. Can I use html or do I need to use the ubb tags for formating?
ubb tags - if you have something that can convert html 2 ubb i would be highly happy! i may even resume work on the fvwm PET![]()

Hmmm found only somthing that converts it the other way round. I'm just trying to spice up my perl skills. Maybe I'll put something together. When I find the time. Though this is pretty dumb: I'm trying to convert ubb to html only so that the board can convert it back to html to display it :-/ NM I'm almost done.
Ok, here it is it almost came out like I planned it to. Only the [pre] tags seem messed up somtimes...
hi demian,
any chance you go errors like this? i looked inmy images directory and sure enough they are not there, but there are many other image in that directory (and they are awsome!!)

Is that good or bad?
The error from your last post seems to originate from the weather.pl script. Can you try to turn it off and see if the error persists?
In $XPLANET_DIR/xplanet.cfg remove weather.pl from the line
SCRIPTS= "$XPLANET_DIR/blah.pl"
and also remove the reference to the weather marker files:
MARKER_FILES="earth.hans weather_markers weather"
As I said in the PET, I didn't set up the weather thingy because I don't want to get an account at either of the sites. I will try the new forecast.pl script, though. I'll add it to the PET when I'm done.
good?? its freaking great!! i have a bunch of other cool pics, lots 'o' mecateror (sp) pics and others. this is really cool - excellent PET!
Cool. I just wasn't sure if the outcome is what you wanted.
That reminds me: I should really work on that fvwm menu function. I'm thinking about a perl script that detects the available projection/viewpoints (based on the filename) and displays menu entries for them. On select a predefined background setter should set the corresponding picture as wallpaper and auto-update it automagically (ideally as soon as xplanet generates a new file but every n minutes will do, too, I suppose). The script can then be called through a PipeRead...
Hmm. So it's all there. I should get going.
