Use Alt-F2...KMenuEdit and then make the changes there.
Okay, this may be stupid but... A few days ago, I saw a menu somewhere that you could change the text displayed on the KDE applications menu (i.e. instead of 'Amusement' you could change it 'Games') I wasn't logged in as root so nothing I did actually changed. Well, now I am logged on as root, but cannot, for the life of me, find that darn menu. I have tried the control center and the Mandrake control center with no luck...
