XP looks horrible with it's default style, I go to my friends house who uses it and can't stand the look of it. And the icons are freakin huge! It is possible to make it look similar to win 98 though, and then it's not quite as bad.

Very true. I tried it at work and made it's menu, desktop and such more like Win2K. Eventually I gave up. It was a p233/32MB/2.5G pc. RedHat worked alot better

As to what the rest of you have said, I'm afraid I must disagree. I've always been a sucker for a hot looking desktop. I love the Acqua and Keramik themes for KDE, and XP can look REALLY good if themed properly. I think Microsoft is going in the right direction with this new longhorn thing. Granted, a lot of these images could be screenies from kde-look.org with the XP iconset, but that just shows that it's KDE that's the industry leader...NOT M$. Now if only more people knew about KDE...
I've always thought it hilarious that Linux zealots when they talk about MS and their new flashier desktop often say they liked the win95 look better, a plainer look with less curves & color. Then, they show off impressive screenshots of their linux desktops, yep, flashy & with curves.I like XP's look, but agree about the new start menu. So, simply go to classic look on the start menu!

I have tried it and it's slow, very slow. You can view all desktops at once though, if you have 4 desktops you can view them 2x2. Pretty cool but useless I think.
