    Need help with LILO and WIN2K Please

    Installed SuSE 8.0 (WIN2000 in front) and somehow it will not allow me to
    access the WIN2000 portion. Below is my LILO.conf file. I notice that
    (apparently) the Windows portion is not referenced (it is /dev/hdc1). I do
    not know how to word the entry so LILO will recognize and allow me to boot into WIN2000 also. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance!

    disk= /dev/hdc
    bios= 0x80
    disk= /dev/hdd
    bios= 0x81
    boot= /dev/hdc
    change-rules
    reset
    read-only
    menu-scheme = Wg:kw:Wg:Wg
    lba32
    prompt
    timeout= 80
    message= /boot/message

    image = /boot/vmlinuz
    label = linux
    root = /dev/hdc5
    initrd = /boot/initrd

    image = /boot/vmlinuz.suse
    label = failsafe
    root = /dev/hdc5
    initrd = /boot/initrd.suse
    append = "ide=nodma apm=off acpi=off"
    optional

    other = /dev/hdd1
    label = windows

    image = /boot/memtest.bin
    label = memtest86

    why not change the
    other = /dev/hdd1
    label = windows
    to
    other = /dev/hdc1
    label = windows

    Sorry I should have been more specific - that listed Windows is my backup
    harddrive hdd1. Windows 2000 is /dev/hdc1.

    okay - thats what i thought - thats why for the other entry use /dev/hdc1 - this is so you cna boot it, right? not access it while in linux?

    If I understand you correctly, you're saying that you'd like to add another option at the lilo prompt that allows you to boot into your win2k partition, which is located at /dev/hdc1, yes?

    If that's what you're trying to do, the syntax is as follows:

    other = /dev/hdc1
    label = Win2k

    Place this at the end of your lilo.conf file, run "lilo", and you should be ready to reboot!

    Thanks - that did it!! Appreciate the help. (It seems to be the simple things that stump me).

    Why not just setup ntldr (Win2k boot manager) to point to lilo instead?
