I'm looking for a decent text editor that can be used in a Win environment. I would like to have something similar to kate. Document highlighting, saving as a Unix text file, having multiple documents open at the same time and it must be free or sharware or something. Any suggestions?

I can never get used to vim. I do not like using clumsy keystrokes and having to switch back and forth between the edit screen and command line. Any other suggestion?
PS: I do not want to start a pro/con vim debate here. It might be a great editor, but I know it's not for me.

I share your feeling. I respect vi(m) and I have nothing against it. I have spent much time trying to learn to use it. But darn it, I just can't get the mode-thing! And Emacs scares my pee-pee.
