Multi system setup

Does anyone have the link to this? There was one on the forum b4 it got switched around. Some guy had used vnc, and/or x2vnc, and setup 3 systems with 3 monitors, but with one keyboard and one mouse. He was doing this w/o a switch, does anyone remember this? If so do you have a link? I think he was using two x86 Linux boxes, and a G4 Tower with Linux.

I was doing something similar. Grab a flavor of vnc for each unit and intall the server on each box that wont ahve a keyborad & mouse attatched. On the one with the keyboard and mouse, install the client.

Then you just run the vnc program and you get a window for each remote system. X11 based GUIs generally will give you a new Xsession. I dont know about OS X. But winders will give you control of the unit as if you were in front of it.

As long as there is a LAN connection, you really arent limited to how many connections (excpet bandwidth). I highly reccomend that you close out any sessions that are not going to be used -- sending 3 1024x768x32 screens every refresh cycle can be quite exhaustive

I was wanting the multi monitor setup also, and just scrool my mouse to the side of the screen to switch boxes. That's why I gotta find that site. I think the guy hacked the vnc app. :P

you setup x0rfbserver on the computer after X has started. then use x2vnc to connect to it. move the mouse to the left (or whatever you specify on the command line) and it's good.

also for just X to X you can use x2x. i haven't used this yet cause i was dealing with X to win, but i'm about to set it up now. i'll tell you how it goes.

x2x is simple. on the host (one w/o keyboard) run xhosts +CLIENT then on the client (one w/ keyboard) run x2x -east -from :0.0 -to HOSTIP:0.0
