Speed up VNC

Im using VNC, but the refresh rate is very slow. Anyone know of any tricks to speed it up?

lower bitrate, resolution and less fancy graphics. Plus try something like TightVNC or Tridia's VNC. They are much quicker algorithms. I used VNC for quite some time, and the less graphics it had to shovel over the ethernet the better.
