Hey guys n gals. I was sitting here thinking, man it would sure be nice to sit on irc over the supship (navy) network that I am currently connected to. The problem, however, is that they filter the irc port out at one of the firewalls Im sitting behind. So, If there is someone out there with some time, skills, and energy, I would like to know if they could write up a php based irc client that interacted through port 80. My network programming skills are non-existent, but I would think that you would have to have a server prog and a client or html page to interact with, with the server doing the irc port (isnt it like 6667 or something). I dont even know if this will work, but it sounds like a great project. What u guys think?
Well, if I get what you mean, since the firewall blocks you on port 6667, you need a proxy basically on the WAN to let you thru? Hmm, I may be able to setup an ssh session for ya. SSH into the box and get some text IRC. Lemme look into that. I got an OpenBSD box that I could give you the WAN IP to once I get that working.

Well, technically it should be working now (although it aint). I gotta figure out why. I have port forwarding on the router pointing an IP to it. Windows can get it, linux can get it, BSD cant. Gotta figure out why. As soon as its fixed, you -- my friend - will have access.
