    Re:Cool applications

I found this program just when I was looking for a decent ripper. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it looks very interesting.
    Emptytree Seedy http://emptytreeSeedy.sourceforge.net/
Basically it allows you to harness every computer in your network to rip your CD collection, and then it acts as a player. Like I said, haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it looks like a really good idea, just wish more people in my flat used linux, and I could actually use it to its full potential.

    Hey, gret poll!

CP can probably help me out with this one. After looking for a good Burner for the GUI it looked like K3b was the favourite. When i was browsing their homepage though, it seemed you had to be running KDE to be able to use this proggie? Whats up with that?

Anyways for remote Admin into M$ Terminal Servers.

Ow yeah, and for those who are not sure why XMMS wont load/play ur MP3 files in RH 8.0 checkout their website and download the plugin (100kb)

Nope, just need qt and shit installed. I can run almost any KDE app I would want to (should that ever occur) and I run GNOME or fluxbox.

qt is a multiplatform C++ application development framework used by KDE (among other things), somewhat of a similar idea to gtk+. There is some more info available here.

You should get kde-lib as well at least. I don't know if you need more or not. I think that if having just kde-libs doesn't work then you may need kde-bindings, but these are just assumptions. Sorry I can't help anymore

Well, here -- if you have the hard disk space, do a full install. Then you wont run into this crap. Of course if you only have a 3 GB hard disk .... then thats not a bright idea ;D RH 8 does ~3 GB for a full blown install and SuSE can be even more.

mondo - one slick back up utility and disaster recovery tool - it backs up to cdr, cdrw, or NFS.

Wow just had a look at this one. This will save me a lot of time. I often mash up my system by playing with stuff I don't know about.
