    not detecting cdrom in laptop in redhat7.3

    I just recently installed Redhat 7.3 onto my laptop. For some reason Linux is not detecting my cd-rom... anyone have ideas? Please help! ;D ;D

    hello,
    just a guess - are your CD drives modules loaded?
    do this to find out - open a terminal, i.e. a shell and then type /sbin/lsmod and see if there is a module called cdrom

    You could try the command
    # depmod -ae
    needed to be run once only.

    Just a question, but howd ya install it with no cdrom? Did you do a network install?
