    DNS /etc/host.conf

Running RH7.3 with Apache and a fqdn my /etc/host.conf looks like this

    order hosts,bind

Is the lack of my domain and or IP address the reason it takes forever for someone to access the MultiUser Games I host using telnet://btshadows.netort

But instant when they you telnet://ipaddressort

    ?

    Ras

yes. More than likely. I would add in your hostname to it and your internal IP as well (if you are NATted).
