Well, if it's hard locked, and cannot establish any network connection with it, then there's no way. Somebody has to hit the reset button.

true but it can establish network connections .. i mean its pingable and would react to sysrq .. anyway i can always reset it next week ..
Can you ssh to it? Is webmin running on it?

nope thats the strange thing - everything works for a while and after a month or 2 it just locks up all network connections .. i cant ssh in but i establish an ssh connection and then it times out ..
well, AFAIK, without ssh/telnet/rlogin or whatever, you cannot do a remote reboot. Not without some gadget that takes a phone call and makes a robot push the reset button. Which of course would be cool...

I can totally imagine that![]()
Or sharks with lasers.
What, you mean I'm the only one with a dialup robot arm poised over his reset button?
You guys are just so backwards
Seriously though, you could put a script together that will reboot the machine (gracefully) and run it as a cron job at weekly (or whatever) intervals.
