    StarOffice 6 tricks

If you are like me, and you really only need/want the word processor and spreedsheet applications from StarOffice 6.0, you can do a custom install and have just those parts. No PowerPoint clone, no drawing program, no extra language moduals. The result is a trimmer, and faster StarOffice.

If you have StarOffice already installed, go to your local StarOffice directory and run the "setup" script from there. One of the options in add/remove components, which lets dump the stuff you don't use.

A lean and mean StarOffice 6 still takes a bit to load, but you can cut down that load time by half, easily. And once loaded, she flies!
