I just reinstalled everything, and my computer seems to be working fine. However, I have some rights issues, and I can remember how I had them working before:
1. How do I make it so that everyone can mount /mnt/cdrom?
2. I can access my vfat partitions fine. However, as a regular user, I can't create files on the vfat partitions. I cna as a user. What do I do?
3. Anyone know what is supposed to be the filesystem to use for a zip drive? I thought it was vfat, but i get a "wrong filesystem" error.
This is my fstab:

1. i thought the word owner in the line allowed everyone access to the cdrom.
2. i thought the umask option worked for vaft the same as for NTFS, try using the same options you have for that.
3. i thought you could make what every type of file system you wnated on a zip drive... my ls120 drives are formated ext2

shouldn't it be user instead of owner if u want everyone to mount it?
and for the zipdrive, try using auto as the filesystem type in /etc/fstab... then the kernel will try to figure it out himself

ya know that is what i was thinking then i looked at my /etc/fstab and its says owner. if i had to guessi would say user

user Allows anyone to mount the filesystem. Only root or the user who mounted the filesystem is allowed to unmount it. This option also implies noexec, nosuid, and nodev unless specified otherwise.
