Forest Fire

This is an artist's representation of the area surrounding my house right now (and that artist happens to me be ;D)



I can't see any flames, but there's a fair ammount of smoke. The fire is probably over a kilometer away, but that still isn't nearly far enough. For the past few hours a helicopter has been dropping water but it's now dark out so they can't fly.

The fire was started by lightning hitting a tree (my dad actually saw it!) I'm just hoping they get it out soon.

What size is this fire? Does it look hopeful that the fire will be contained before reaching your house? I hope that you dont get fucked over by that fire. A house aint cheap to replace and refurnish, and find somewhere else to stay in the menatime.... Good luck dude!

UPDATE:

At about 11:30 local time last night it started to rain fairly hard, but the time I woke up this morning the fire was still going but not nearly as much. The fire wasn't actually that big, from what i can tell, maybee a couple acres. Now the helicopter's back and dropped off some stuff, but i think it's pretty much out. Still smoking a little but not much.

It seems the fire dudes did a good job, the fire didn't really spread or anything, lucky for me.

Nah, just a little local one, it'll probably make the local newspaper and that's about it :P

Can't even see any smoke now, and it's been raining for a while, so I'd say it's good an out.

Yeah, I don't think Apache is working on IPv6. I have to figure this out.
