Is this printer connected directly to your PC?
What connector type (USB, parallel port, LAN)?
What kind of printer are we dealing with?
And are you using CUPS or lpd?
I ask this since I am a moron with Mandrake. Mandrake hates me. Must be my fedora on my monitor ... ;D Anyhow, I am pretty sure that the printtool has just configured your stuff weird. I may need to do things the hard way.
Here is my print configuration with LPD as the print daemon and a HP1000C:
I, via printconf-gui on RedHat 7.3 got the HP setup okay. I am not too fond of hacking the config files when I dont have toCode:[aschott@system11 etc]$ cat printcap # /etc/printcap # # DO NOT EDIT! MANUAL CHANGES WILL BE LOST! # This file is autogenerated by printconf-backend during lpd init. # # Hand edited changes can be put in /etc/printcap.local, and will be included. hp:\ :ml=0:\ :mx=0:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/hp/hp.acct:\ :sh:\ :lp=|/usr/share/printconf/util/smbprint:\ :lpd_bounce=true:\ :if=/usr/share/printconf/util/mf_wrapper: hp1000c:\ :ml=0:\ :mx=0:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp1000c:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/hp1000c/hp1000c.acct:\ :sh:\ :lp=/dev/lp0:\ :lpd_bounce=true:\ :if=/usr/share/printconf/util/mf_wrapper: ############################################################################### ## Everything below here is included verbatim from /etc/printcap.local ## ############################################################################### # printcap.local # # This file is included by printconf's generated printcap, # and can be used to specify custom hand edited printers.![]()
