Why do we have all the "gone" moderators??

First of all, I have a great respect for all of them ....

But but ..... except for Lovechild, most of them are not active mostly ( if at all ).

Why do we have non-active moderators??

perhaps some of the active people should volunteer to become moderators and then cloverm should pick some people of whom he thinks they would be good moderators.

yep .. good idea ..

elections or nominations may be a good way to go if cloverm is okay with it. the reason for this is if someone requests to be a mod then they may not have the proper motives. some mods may be bent on having people use a particular distro, or RTFM, or a certain window manger etc. nominations are nice because is can be kept private and it does not detoritate into a popularity contest.

yea but cloverm usually knows enough about the members who would volunteer for that to know if they'd be good moderators or not i think.
