    What are the device names??

I have this when I run cdrecord --scanbus:

    scsibus0:
    0,0,0 0)CONNER CFP4207S
    0,1,0 1) *
    0,2,0 2) YAMAHA CRW4416S
    ..
    ..
    ..

    scsibus2:
    2,0,0 200) TEAC CD524EA
    ..
    ..
    ..
Conner drive is the SCSI drive.
Yamaha drive is CDRW that's also SCSI drive.
TEAC is IDE based CDROM drive which is connected to HDD port of IDE channel.

My /dev/cdrom is pointed to /dev/hdd and
my /dev/cdrom1 is pointed to /dev/scd0

    Now my question is,

    1. Are the above device assignment correct??
    2. If not, then how would that be??
    3. I believe the problem with my box not being able to write CDR with IO error is due to the device assignments.
    4. If I want /dev/cdrom to point to my CDROM and /dev/cdrom1 to point to CDRW, how would I go about it??

    TIA ....

    hey compunuts,
it looks like you have scsi emulation on for the ide drive. i dunno why you do, cause since you have real scsi no need to emulate ay.

i guess i would remove it and let it be normal, this means removing entry in lilo.conf or grub.conf and a reboot.
    then this:
    rm /dev/cdrom
    rm /dev/cdrom1
    ln -s /dev/cdrom /dev/hdd
    ln -s /dev/cdrom1 /dev/scd0
