    Network Diagrams done Propa!

    Hi,

Can someone link me to a site that shows the 'proper' way to make network/LAN/WAN diagrams? There is some common standard out there right?

    thanx,

I've always used Dia or Visio to make mine with.
Basically you just make a link for every relevent connection
or protocol. So you would have different links for say IP, VPN,
and/or routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP, etc...). As long as
everything is "clear", it should be fine. A lot of what is standard
is based on what is included protocol/connection wise in the network.

    I hope this helps,

I've always used DIA for my diagram needs and it did the good job of it. There are some default drawings for Network as well as Flowcharting.

I don't think there is any published standards for network diagramming although there are some defacto standards emerged every now and then. But as long as people understand what you have drawn up, you should be fine. Just make it clear and understandable and label it well.
