We are currently using Zenworks 3.2 imaging to install W2K on Compaq Evo D510 workstations. Zenworks 3.2 uses a 2.4.11 kernel of Linux for its boot disks and we are having problems loading the network card drivers. The documentation that we have found states that we need to use a e100.o driver which is an Intel Pro100 VM driver. We have recompiled the intel driver on Mandrake 8.2 and on Mandrake 8.0 and the Zenworks 3.2 Linux boot disks still do not recognize the Intel Pro100 VM embedded card. Does anyone have any insight?
Mandrake 8.2 doesn't ship with kernel 2.4.11, it ships with 2.4.18Originally Posted by lighthouse
I don't believe that 8.0 shipped with that kernel version either, and I think that's migt be where you're problem lies. You really want to compile/recompile the module with the same kernel that you're trying to use(2.4.11), as there are quite a few differences that would make modules compiled with others incompatible.
I don't know enough about the Zenworks stuff to be able to tell you exactly what to do, but with it being such a fairly task-specific item, you'd think the developers would be the folks to ask - they know their kernel and any addons/optimizations that might have already been done and would hopefully be able to help you.
