Thread: Host Name

    Host Name

I have a couple of questions on host names:

Does your machine host name have to match the domain name your hosting?

If you want to do a host name change what do you exactly need to do?

No. You can name what you want and still resolve the domain to your host. It's a matter of resolving the IP address in DNS server.

    hat depends on your distro.

In my Red Hat distro, it is in "/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default" file.
In my Debian box, it's in /etc/hostname file.
