deleted /var/log/maillog now it doesn't make new one

Hi,

I deleted /var/log/maillog, I thought it would simply create a whole new one but it hasn't i restart sendmail and xinetd but that doesnt seem to work.

the permisions of the file are the same.

anyone know how to fix this?

You could try to create the file with nothing in it: "touch /var/log/maillog".
