well one guess, the only thing I know that can cause random lockups for AGP devices is the AMD bug.

Bah FUD (gee i am picking on LC again i guess that will be another spite for me). It is not a bug but a design difference and the Linux developer's failure to realize that the design for the AMD and Intel chips are different.

I don't hit woman, I don't talk down to them and I don't smite them either.

oh and the Windows developers are just as stupid, AMD had to release a patch to Win2K I believe to fix this paging problem.

I'm however worried that the mem=nopentium workaround will become the official fix for the few broken chips, as it's slows the system down, do to it's paging size nature.

from what i have heard they are not working on fixing this atm.

I have to state that an unwanted side effect in a program is a bug.
right so it is a linux bug. AMD never hid the paging differences. The kernel developers just ignored it so the difference became a built in problem.

I havn't had any lock ups but I still have that dumb problem with the console splitting in half and buffering the data way out of range with my radeon AGP. ???
