    RAM problem

    Hi,

I am trying to help a mate setup an old Compaq Proliant 5000 server to run linux. So far we have got debian loaded & the RAID array working with the minimum of hassle. However I noticed that both free -m and cat /proc/meminfo return a value of 13 meg, unfortunately the machine has 512 meg installed. The RAM all counts fine on boot & we have tried passing the mem size to lilo on boot but with no luck. So anyone have any ideas?

EDIT~ Ok update, if we parse the linux mem=512M as a boot parm it works fine but if we add append mem="512M" to lilo.conf it doesnt work.

    Thanks for any help.

    Regards

    ed

    hey eddy!!
try append "mem=512M" - i.e. use quotes around the mem statement too.

My Dodge runs fine. Just remember to check the oil and water now and again.
