    Secure Computing says they won't put patents in the way of SELinux

    ...we are extending an assurance to the open source community that Secure Computing will not use the patents in question to limit the availability of SELinux.

    This is nice to see. It would be better if there was no patent, but this isn't a perfect world.

    In some places it is impossible to own a patent ... but you can have temporary rights over one.
