heres a cheap way to go big screen: video card with the
yellow rca video out, and a 21" or bigger TV with the yellow
rca video input. we get used 25 and 27" tvs here for $150.
im gonna try one out soon.

Don't get TV's, although big, they have shit resolution, so if you are typing and reading it will wreak havoc with your eyes. Monitors can have a higher refresh rate as well which is better for your eyes. My friend has got a twin setup with two 15" monitors. I have to say that 2 monitors is really great. It really is better than a bigger monitor. I would suggest buying another 17" and going for a dual setup. It is nice to have all the extra space. It just means you can have the apps you are keeping an eye on in one monitor, and the useless random crap in the other. Just remember, as nice as a big monitor is, it doesn't really give you that much extra space, but a second monitor does.

I agree with CP, tv's are shit for general computer usage.

Although, quake3 on a 52" tv is quite impressive

I would have to say that if you are only gaming and watching movies, get the big ass tv. They are great for that. But that is all.

Yea, I got a Geforce 2MX w/ a TV-Out and a 29" TV already, but that's as said here only good for movies and games, even with S-Video. And a TV's got much less than 1024x768 res, so I wouldn't get any additional space on the screen anyway.
I guess dual 17" is the way to go. Guess I'll have to buy a new GFX card that has two RGB-outputs though :/

wait wait wait! just today i saw this guy where i work
surf the net, answering his email on a 21" sony trinitron tv
from a wireless webtv keyboard from across the room
(approx viewing distance 10' = 3.5 meters) and it was
very clear, as good as my svga 15" from a viewing distance
    of 3' = 1 meter.
    >>>>> those people who say, the tv out solution
isnt workable, maybe you had a poor quality tv ???

    capybara:
Maybe his webtv thingy was made to look good on a TV, like bigger font sizes and stuff like that.

    ShadowMan:
I guess it could be more crisp, but to take full advantage of it I guess that you card has to support TV-output in higher resolutions.
