Sounds like a great idea. I paid probably 30 dollars more for the infrared mouse with side buttons so I might as well use them.
i have a MS Intellimouse and it rocks
but it has these side buttons, and i always thought they only worked in Windows
however, using a program like imwheel makes it possible to use them in linux and it's great cuz u can use them as your back and forward buttons in browsers.
if anyone is interested i'll write a PET about how to do it tomorrow

The trick is figuring out how the mouse actually numbers the buttons. I got a Logitech 4 button wheel LED mouse. I love it. Wish I could buy a few more. Now all they sell are the wireless and the 2 button ones.
