is your /var/lock/ directory full? Thats what I am gathering. It appears that the /var/lock directory is not allowed to make the lockfile. I could be wrong, however.

Well I do a df /var and it says it is only 13% full. So I am thinking thats not it. Any other ideas. I am willing to try anything.

No lock files, The logs files are telling me jack. It just doesnt make any sense. I didn't set this server up but it should be the same as our others. I am in Mass and this box is in NH so it's very frustrating. Do you think I should re-install from the RPM that came with RH?

that may be the best way to ensure that you get it working fastest. I suppose you can also ensure that you have a good RPM, if you re-ftp it off of redhat's ftp as well (get the md5 hash and reference it)
