Didnt really know where to post this but - i use wvdial to connect to the internet through a modem - ppp0.
Is there anything i can look at to tell me how long i have been connected for? and whether information is actually going through the damn thing?
There is no X - just command prompt.
A bit like a connection status thingy with winders??

A search for internet monitor at http://freshmeat.net brings up gkrellm and a host of other utils for just that purpose...
