Thread: Debian/kde3

    Debian/kde3

I was running debian testing from arround christmas. Recently I apt-get dist-upgraded. konqueror is really bad now, crashes once or twice a day, even with only 20 windows open. konq 2.2.2 kde 2.2.2

Figured I'd give kde 3 a shot (I use kmail, kedit and konq, with enlightenment)

Anyone got an source.list line for kde3, I dont really want to go unstable just yet.

    Re:Debian/kde3

Try these (each mirror has different KDE3 packages, so you'll need all 3). However, some packages might be dependent on packages found only in unstable.
I've been on unstable for a while now without having major problems.

    Thanks

Well xchat has just bombed on me twice, something nasty in testing? hmm

might try unstable, i'll wait for a few more replies if anyone else has good/bad views on it?

KDE3 from those locations was somewhat less than stable on my Libranet 2.0 box. While configuring the desktop stuff the cpu pegged and response went to near zero. I did that a couple of times and gave up on it.

    Back to fluxbox

    Re:Debian/kde3

I'm running unstable, I followed the instructions at http://calc.cx/kde.txt -- all went well and I got KDE 3.0.2. Konqueror seems improved. since 2.x.

    Re:Debian/kde3

I upgraded to unstable, and put in the kde lines that cloverm gave me. dist-upgrade, launched konq.

    Didnt work.

    Re:Debian/kde3

Looks like you're missing some essential packages. Look around in aptitude for kde stuff and see what might be missing (like kdelibs or something).
