No screen saver - just blackout

When in MDK 8.2 my screensaver won't come on. All the settings seem to be ok (using WindowMaker) - it just goes black even though those blocks are not checked. When in WIN2K the screen saver works fine so I assume it doesn't involve BIOS. Any suggestions?

are ya starting xscreensaver in ~/.xinitrc or some windowmaker tool ?

In Windowmaker.

I would try to start it up in your .xinitrc file if teh tool is not starting it correctly e.g.
exec wmaker &
exec xscreensaver -options &
