KDE3.1 Alpha is uber cool, one complaint though, why can't I remove the NFS mount icons from my desktop - I want to remove them, but delete them deletes the actual NFS mount and not the link.

do u also have the kded problem that i'm having? if not, what compiler and what compiler flags and what configure options did u use for kdelibs?
I have only one problem, Noatun throws a segfault when I start it, which would mean one more suckass gtk app on my PC.
All compiled with GCC3.1 (Gentoo patched) and "-march=athlon-tbird -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"

noatun works great here after recompiling without -fomit-frame-pointer
i even use it instead of xmms now
i'm using regular gcc 3.1 and -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointerAll compiled with GCC3.1 (Gentoo patched) and "-march=athlon-tbird -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
i'm now recompiling KDE CVS HEAD without -fomit-frame-pointer to see if this will fix my problem. i know there's at least one more guy with the same problem i have because he filed the same bugreport as i did.
oh, since i'm compiling KDE CVS i'm not using --enable-final
this is gonna hurt (kdelibs => 3 hours, 15 minutes and counting)
btw, what does the gcc patch from gentoo do? is it so that glibc survives make check (which fails with a standard gcc)?
You of all people use noatun ??

Nice job! I didn't realize the new KDE was that good.

yea, i'm pretty surprised myself
the thing that got to me is the fact that it docks into the KDE system tray. i recently rediscovered virtual desktop heaven, and because of that systray i can easily switch between songs better from wherever desktop i'm on. i could also let xmms run on each desktop but i don't like having applications open on each desktop... it kinda defeats the purpose imo. also very important is the fact that Noatun FINALLY has good playlist support (a part where it really sucked a lot imo).

never think something is good because a screenshot looks good. try it out for yourself and then decide if it's good or not. a screenshot is just a shot of how the screen looks at that time, so it can only show you how good it looks and it can show off some features, but until u've actually tried them u don't know how good it is
i'm just posting this because i know someone who bases everything on screenshots. if a certain distro has cool looking screenshots he will immediately assume that it's a great distro (which is of course wrong because u can make a desktop look great no matter what distro it is)
