Libranet 2.0 'Essential Edition' free download

    LIBRANET NEWSLETTER July 5, 2002

    Welcome to the Libranet newsletter.

    ---------------------------------
    DOWNLOAD OF version 2.0

We have released Libranet 2.0 'Essential Edition' for free download. It is a
single CD containing the essential parts of Libranet 2.0 full edition. We
anticipate that this will help raise the awareness of Libranet in peoples minds
and lead to a wider user base.
This install includes our new X configuration program and improved hardware
    detection.
You can download it at ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/libranet/2.0/
Feedback so far is very positive.

    ---------------------------------
    LIBRANET FORUM DEBUTS

We have started (yesterday) an on-line forum for users of Libranet and others to
talk, ask for and give help and give the community a meeting place.
So far the response has been good and the membership list is growing. We hope
    you will join.
The forum is accessed at http://libranetlinux.com/forum/phpBB2

    ---------------------------------
    THE NEXT LIBRANET

We expect to have the next release of Libranet available in August.
This release will have the new X setup and hardware detection as well
as updated packages and will include OpenOffice 1.0 rather than StarOffice.
There will be quite a few improvements and Libranet volunteers have been
providing suggestions for several areas including printer setup, documentation
and help and improved installation procedures.

Quite disappointing. Libranet was unable to partition my HD and the installer blew up after trying.

For all round versatility, I still say Mandy's the one followed closely by RH.

I know the hard core enthusiasts think Mandy is too refined (they would label it as "dummied down&quot but anything you can do with any other less refined distro, you can do with Mandy, the easy way (using wizards and other utilities like that) or the hard way (using the CLI).

And of all the distros I've tried, Mandy's DiskDruid is the best. It's almost as good as PartitionMagic (well, "allmost&quot.

Never was very versitale for me. Nothing that i needed to work did or did very well. Debain or Libranet has done everything I have asked of it.
