NetBSD, Ross HyperSparc chips and SMP

Okay, can this work? I remember reading about it working in some mailing list but i can't reproduce the googling. The NetBSD sparc faq says no, but its about as up to date as the phone books in Moravia, so does someone know of a patch to 1.6.2 or -current to get the kernel to boot SMP and not barf?

Its on Debian for the time being, which has anyone noticed the default SMP kernel is too big to actually boot on a Sparc's 1Mb PROM limit? buggrit.

    Cheers,

    Finegan

    Sparc32...

I have a couple of SMP ss20's. They run fine using gentoo and linux-2.4.25-sparc. Unfortunately, I don't think NetBSD will ever support sparc32, just OpenBSD...and even that wasn't SMP iirc.
I tried them all...the slack port, debian, obsd, but gentoo-sparc worked the best imho...can you handle a week long install is the question?
