Thread: Sound editor for linux

    Re:Sound editor for linux

As my history of posting links is rather checkered, I'm reluctant to appear the idiot I really am. However, in this case, I'm going to make an exception; this is a link to the Eastma school of Music in Rochester NY. They have a really nice selection of open-source apps, but you've gotta LOOK for them.

Have you looked yet at Cinelerra? I realize that it is primarily set up for video compositing and editing, but it has a dynamite audio editor, too. Limitless number of tracks, decent effects (expandable with plug-ins), and decent on less-than-state of the art hardware (I'm running it on a 1.3 GHz Duron with 256 megs, and it runs fine). It comes as a rather large static linked binary that is surprisingly easy to install.

    this tool is awesome!!

I installed it two days ago, and it rocks! I am adding on your behalf to the fave software list in the Software forum.

Thanks for the heads-up... I looked at this, and realized I have a lot of work to do before I can use this package (dependencies and such to be resolved) so I'm having a friend with broadband access d/l and burn it to CD - looks promising. Thanks again.

    Later On,
