    Microsoft wireless desktop Xfree 4.1

Hey guys I have a Microsoft wireless Desktop
Which consists of a wireless keyboard and mouse.
The keyboard works just fine in linux, but I can't
seem to get the mouse to work correctly with
    Xfree 4.1

It works fine if I set it to protocol PS/2 in
XF86Config file, but if I set it to ExplorerPS/2 it
doesn't work at all. If I set it to ImPS/2 then
it eratically jumps all over the screen. same if
    I set it to Microsoft.

I was wondering if anyone had succesfully gotten this
mouse to work with Xfree 4.1 and if so what settings
    did you use?

Do you have the ZAxisMapping paramter in the XF86Config file? That is what controls the scrolling (provided the drivers support it)

Yes I have the buttons paramiter as well as the zaxismapping paramiter, but none of that does you any good if you are just using the ps/2 protocol. and that is the only protocol that will actually allow me to move the cursor around properly.

Could you post your XFree86 config file -- that may be a bit easier.

Well, aside from the driver and zaxis parameter, there could be a problem with the resolution of the mouse, perhaps. You mentioned that there was erratic behavior with X when the imps/2 driver was enabled. Plus I have heard of (but never actually experienced firsthand) GPM issues.

I can't get to my config file right now but I do not have gpm running. I myself have never used X with gpm without having problems.

I will post my config file when I can.
