i use both - if i wnat the terminal for other stuff (i.e. i am gonna be editing the file for a while) i use gvim (aka vim -v), else vim
GVim is nice, but I think I still prefer plain ol' Vim in a term over the GUI version. Yes, yes, I have rather gotten back on the Vim bandwagon, and yes, I remember what I said a while back- I reserve the right to change my mind.
Just seems to me that with a dozen or so basic commands, I can edit my HTML and LaTeX sources very fast and easy. Besides, it makes me feel like a real uber-geek.
Vim in Konsole under KDE 3 is heaven!

I use vim on the console only if that helps you decide.
