I realized that! They said there wasnt enough market for them to offer the option. (which I believe) But, their support sucked as well. (Im not sure who they outsourced it to, but it wasnt in house) In this setup, I assume Redhat will take care of the support (which is probably the most important thing)
They might do well, we will have to wait and see.

I remember as well. I also remember that they didnt market it well at all. Yipee you have a choice, but it was as if the choice was the same cost. The IT market didnt know or understand that Linux was free, therefore DELL didnt make any money on it, since they were passive about marketing the line.

I think if they would have invested maybe a quarter of what IBM invested, they would have made a better return on investment.

IBM invested into a marketing strategy
and made a profit.

Now DELL wants to get in on the action
its all capitalism
