Wine and Direct Connect
Hi
Im looking to setup a direct connect server on linux, but because the linux DC hubs are un-scriptable I decided to use Wine.
I dont know nothing about wine, and I am running Red-Hat 7.2, (7.3 shortly)
I did and install everything in 6.2 then upgraded to 7.2.
What I would like to know is how do I get wine to run the win32 exe from neo-modus.com?
thanks

Well, I am assuming that you already have wine installed. run the install program for the application if there is one, otherwise run the actual executable, by going wine nameofexe.exe in that program's directory. If it doesnt work, try rerunning it a few times. I found that wine 'learns' as it goes along, especially with the fonts.
IMHO codeweaver's wine is the best for business apps.

You could do a serial -> serial connection using pppd and the DCC client in windows.

Cool, I have never used direct connect before. I actually have no clue if wine can even handle it. VXD's are a no-no in wine.

I assumed you'd want a win -> linux connection. If you are going Linux to Linux, then you could still do the serial connection with PPP, or you could do PLIP (IP over a parallel port/connection).
