hi im a complete n00b, just installed redhat linux 9 on a celeron 2ghz, with the intention of running it as a family server for 4 other pc's (all running windows xp ops: )
well i need to get it running pretty soon, the family are getting impatient after 3 days of trying with windows xp on the server
the setup doesnt matter, whether i have them on a workgroup or domain, just aslong as it all works.
apart from not having a clue how to configure the network, redhat also didnt work with my HFC-2BSO based isdn pci card, and i would be extremely grateful to anyone who could help me, or its back to windows on the server, and i'll tell you, i'd rather use redhat if i knew how :?
I can't quite figure out what you are trying to achieve.
Linux running as a file server for windows PCs? Linux as a print server for Linux PCs?
In either case, Samba would be a good first choice to get it going. The home page http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com has links to three different samba pages and should be able to provide you with a good place to start.
