    Suse 8.2 and Yast

Received a copy of suse 8.2 & 9.1 on DVDs from novell as part of thier Novell linux Technical Resource Kit... and tried it on VMware.... and WOW! this distro also rocks... the installation is great.. and its my first time to use Yast ... man this one is good also.... does anybody also tried this?

I would say (for me) if our company is going to migrate all our desktop to linux ....hmmm this one is definitely one of my choiced distro .. :P

would there be a Yast like system tool or ports for other distro?

I have the same kit from Novell. I haven't tried it yet though, but I did have a go with an FTP install of SuSe a while back and I have nothing bad to say about it. It's a great distro ... for the desktop at least ... and it seems SuSe is also making in-roads into Redhat's server enterprise market.

Yast is a great tool ... and best of all ... a few months back, Novell released it as GPL. Now any distro or anyone that desires the power and ease of use of Yast can utililze it with a little knowhow.

I think you had to pay for SuSe 8.2 unless you used a Net Install. I don't think you can use net install anymore. Search is your best bet.
