    The aftermath of the battle

Well the thread "The world according to America" got locked and by no surprise. I just wanted to say that I hope no one loses their respect for another at this forum just because of what went on in there. It turned into a rather bloody battle with at least one casualty and I hope we're all cool now. That's all I have to say for now.

For one thing, it showed that our attitudes, opinions and preferences are not parallel. If they were, I'd leave skidmarks getting out of here 8)

    We like explosions.

Everyone has diffrent opinions on things, and not everyone is right but thats how it goes. If we all had the same opinions two things would happen.

1.) We would have a larger margin for being wrong.
    2.) We would be conformists/clones

That's correct. For example, I'm always right, and everybody who disagrees with me is wrong. Therefore, not everybody is right all the time, unless they consistently agree with me ;D

Some people take arguments too seriously. I do it all the time so I'm good at controlling myself. I don't hate people because they have a difference in opinion.

    Just to inform.

Further threads of political/religious themes will be locked/deleted. Atleast for as long as it takes for us to learn how to play nicely together.

Re: The aftermath of the battle

well, we could try creating a list of rules to be applied to future political/religious threads (no sarcasm intended...well, a little bit is, but I'm being serious here). I'm thinking of something along the following lines:

    1. if someone says something you don't like, feel free to comment on it, but be aware that the person you are responding to has feelings and can get upset about things just like you.

    2. try not to use vulgar or blatantly offensive language (some swearing is ok, just not at an excessive level, and some racist comments are not ok at any time).

    3. people will have different opinions than you. if you don't understand why they think about something a certain way, ask them for an explanation. calling them an "idiot" or a "troll" is just asking for a fight.

    4. if we are to discuss politics and/or religion, I'd like to see things handled in a civil manner. please, no name-calling, mud-flinging, DoSing, etc.. A person should be able to give his/her opinion, and everyone else ought to be able to give their own opinion based on the first person's or based on their own experiences without having to worry about being torn down for 'not going along with the crowd'. We're not children, and we're not in high school anymore (well, most of us aren't), so we can at least make an effort to treat each other like human beings.

    5. please, please don't don't bring up subjects that are designed to humiliate other posters. for obvious reasons.

    6. stop giving my email address to porn websites. I said I was sorry! :P
