MS plans to release the smb protocol and others.

Dont know if this is good or bad, but its not really a decision by Ms but rather forced by the European Commission

Wow, smb protocol released to open source will definatly be a big boom for linux. Allowing Samba and other projects to integrate further into an MS environment will only make linux a more popular alternative...

"This is a very exciting time!"

^ where is that from? Who gets the cookie?

My comment was a joke (obviously) , but moreso at the fact that open anything is as anti-M$ policy as it gets ...

Would be funny though, if someone reverse engineered the OS and put it online !! *Hahaha

What happened to M$'s official "No Open Source", "Open Source is bad" policy?

Surely M$ did not lie about it... ??? :

Who knows, maybe it went the way of the "nobody should ever need more than 640K of memory"..... ;D

Is this a FSF or OSI approved license that they are releasing source under or is it the shared source crap that they have been trying to push.

MS is starting to scare me. Its just all of these little baby steps that look harmless, but after a while, they'll add up.

Is it just me or was there talk a while ago of MS considering getting rid of the smb protocol in upcoming versions on Doze? I remember it caused a real stink but I'm not sure if they decided to stick with that idea or not. Does anyone know anything more about it?
